As I have always lived in rental homes, I celebrated Christmas at my friends’ houses and was fascinated by the beauty of garlands. Now that I am moving into my own home, I decided to add the beauty of garlands to my home as well. They seemed to me a beautiful architectural element. However, there are many types of garlands available and there are many ways to decorate them nicely. They also provide a vintage look. Garlands look magnificent if they are decorated properly. It is very easy to decorate them if you have popper materials and tools.

A real garland can only stay up to 1-2 weeks. But an artificial garland can be used for days, weeks, and even months. You can wash it up and save it for further events. Real garland has a fresh scent and artificial garland doesn’t have any scent. Real garlands are more costly than artificial ones. Real garlands are made of fresh material whereas artificial garlands are made of synthetic material.
Do we use more than one garland?
Yes, we can use more than one garland at a time, as it enhances its beauty. Moreover, we can add lights to make it look more attractive. Lights can enhance the beauty of garlands way more than anything else. We can also use more than one type of garland. We can also use different varieties of garlands. By using different kinds of garland I give it a fluffy look so that they can look more gorgeous.
Can we attach garland without nails?
Yes we can attach garlands without nails. By using clips or ribbons or by adjusting them with heavy objects. We can also use nails but it will take more time and effort. So I simply use ribbons and faux tape and I hide them with another layer of garland. I cut the ribbon according to the size of the staircase and tie them with the ends of garlands. I also use clips and attach them with garland in such a way that nobody can see them. Sometimes, I hide the clips with the help of a ribbon too. I tie the ribbon on the clip and twist it around to make a bow. And it looks beautiful.
Can we reuse garland?
Yes we can reuse artificial garlands if we save them properly. We can only re-use artificial garlands. Real garlands can stay up to 2 weeks not more than this so we have to throw them in a proper place. I reused my garlands many times. I pack them up properly and when there is a need for garlands I use them. I used Christmas garlands many times in outdoor events or on birthday celebrations. And after the event I clean them first and pack them for further use. Using garlands for different events gives a vigilant look.
12 Ways to hang garland on stairs
i. Measurements
Firstly, measure your staircase. Now buy at least a 1-2 feet long garland than your stairs so that you can double it or make shapes out of it. Cut the extra garland if needed. Excess of garland is better than the shortage of garland.

Take your things in a single bucket for the decoration purpose.

If you use many garlands, attach the ends of each garland together so that they do not look messy or uneven. This will give your staircase a perfect look. Use green paper tape.
vi. Add fluff to the garland.
To make it look fluffy, layer extra volume. Add feathers and place them in such a way that they look fluffy. Add fluffing tools and tinsels to make it look more worthy.
vii. Add decoratives
To make it look more presentable you can add other things like ribbons, bells, decorative things, or whatever you would like to add to make it look more eye-catching.
viii. Add lights
So here is my favorite part, I add lights in my garland to beautify the interior of my home. You can use some twinkle lights or some sort of power lights. You can also use different colours of lights. Carefully add lights and make sure they all have proper spacing between them.
ix. Add natural elements
Add pine cones to make it look more natural and beautiful. For a more natural look you can spray them with metallic colors or add glitters on them. Add cinnamon sticks for a great scent and better look
x. Use glitter or snow
Sprinkle some glitter on garlands for a twinkle look and add a little bit of snow to make it look more presentable. Do not add an excessive amount of glitter to make it look heavy.
xi. Scented garlands
We can also add some scent to garlands. It can be artificial or we can add dried flowers or mix essential oil with water to spray it over for better fragrance. Adding scents is not too overpowering.

Make a rhythm of colors. Do not add decorative things of different colors. Add things that look pretty on the garland or add things according to the color of the garland.
